Detecon is now SAP S/4HANA Cloud Lighthouse Partner

Management and technology consultancy is now SAP S/4HANA Cloud Lighthouse Partner +++ True to its pioneering role, Detecon relies on SAP S/4HANA Cloud in its own business +++ Advantage agility: “The future of ERP is in the cloud”

The management and technology consultancy Detecon now belongs to the group of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Lighthouse partners within the Run SAP partner program. Detecon’s membership in this group documents SAP’s trust in Detecon’s consulting expertise and its ability to guide corporate clients along their path to SAP S/4HANA Cloud competently and successfully. Detecon underscores its conviction that the future of ERP is in the cloud.

The establishment of the business revolving around SAP S/4HANA Cloud consulting is Detecon’s enrichment of the company’s current ERP strategy and architecture consulting activities. “The inclusion in the group of SAP S/4HANA Cloud Lighthouse partners is for us a tremendous acknowledgment of our consulting competence,” noted with delight Felix Theisinger, Partner at Detecon. The partnership includes a very close exchange of information, collaboration on projects, influence on further developments and product road map, and participation in boot camps and special consultant training and certification programs.

It has been noted in Detecon’s consulting business that the phase of digital proofs of concept (PoC) is coming to a close and that the core processes are now being transformed digitally. This gives rise to questions about the future role of ERP, particularly because ERP data and processes are major building blocks of digital strategy. “In many companies, however, the ERP landscape is inadequate to satisfy the key demands of digitalization,” warned Felix Theisinger. “What is required is a stable foundation in the sense of an agile, digital business platform (digital core) featuring highly efficient processes and high-quality data.”

The prospect of long and tedious ERP projects as the prerequisite to digitalization, however, is dismaying. “Basically, CIOs no longer want to be concerned so intensely with ‘systems of records,’ i.e., the traditional ERP systems; instead, they want to focus on digital technologies,” explained Theisinger. One way out of this situation is offered by cloud ERP in the form of “software as a service” (SaaS) solutions that can be scaled as desired and implemented quickly, encompass best practice processes, and provide new digital innovations with every release.

ERP’s move to the cloud has just started, but Detecon is convinced that the future of ERP is in the cloud. For the moment, hybrid ERP models (a combination of cloud and on-premise ERP) will still dominate, but as time passes, more and more companies, including larger ones, will procure their ERP as SaaS from the cloud. As Detecon sees it, the primary benefits are not the reduced costs, but instead the agility, the positive pressure to standardization and best practices, and the continuous flow of innovation – with respect to advanced analytics and machine learning, for instance.

In its capacity as pioneer in Deutsche Telekom Group, Detecon will implement the leading cloud ERP solution SAP S/4HANA Cloud and replace the current SAP ERP in its own business. “Practice what you preach – we implement our recommendations into our own operations,” emphasized Theisinger. “From consulting to implementation, we are noted not only for our strategic expertise, but also for our own extensive experience in actual practice.”
