ReBuilding Companies Podcast #11

“My whole live has been involved with innovation,” says William A. Fischer, Professor of Innovation Management at the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne. No wonder, then, that he knows like no other that the renewal of large complex organizations is above all a balancing act between the present and the future. Janosch Geiger talked to him about

  • the huge issue for big companies to constantly reinvent themselves
  • how to explore innovation and explore the core business
  • how to ensure that people who are working in the present will have a future

Using the Haier Group as an example, he points out, how large organizations can succeed to manage the present and the future without separating the new from the old and without leaving behind the people who are providing the resources for the present.

Bill Fischer co-founded and co-directs the IMD program on ‘Driving Strategic Innovation’, in cooperation with the Sloan School of Management at MIT and also authors a regular column for Forbes.com entitled The Ideas Business.
